Introduction

It’s been said that if you want to have a good time, then you should join SMART and go to any of their many activities. But if you want to have a very good time and eat really well, you should park next to someone with a Louisiana license plate! The SMART Cajuns are home based in Louisiana but attract members from across the US. In fact, more than half of our members live out of state. Everyone is welcome to join the Cajuns and let the good time roll.

We’ve been busy. Our Eclipse muster which was held in Texas was a rare phenomenon indeed. We partied while the sky turned dark, the street lights came on, and the sun came back out. We then went on to other destinations in the Texas Hill Country.

Our signature muster, the “Y’All Come”, always attracts large crowds due to the menu of crawfish, fried fish, gumbo, jambalaya, and other Cajun specialties. We will be having our TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY edition of the Y’all Come April 21-25, 2025. We will be pulling out all the stops with many tours and activities. You can sign up now to be one of the fifty or so rigs expected at this awesome event.

But wait! There’s more! We will be hosting the reginal muster deep in Cajun country before that! A tailgate party featuring LSU/Alabama and other SEC teams will precede the regional muster on Veteran’s Day this year. We will boil shrimp, fry fish, and prepare other tasty Cajun meals. Pontoon boat rides in the swamp and a tour of the WWII Museum in New Orleans are on the agenda. These musters are also on the SMART website. You should book early for these events as that weekend will be in great demand.

Don’t let that RV sit in the driveway and gather dust. Come join us and help us plan and execute more musters and get togethers.

This anniversary year started with our “Hearts and Guns” muster in New Iberia,Louisiana. This muster is always scheduled the week of Valentine’s Day. The name is based on the men providing all the cooking and kitchen services on Valentine’s Day, while our ladies relaxed and enjoyed a restful day. Another day is for our members to maintain their shooting skills at the nearby Iberia Parish Sheriff’s pistol and rifle range.

Because of the nationwide shelter in place order, this year’s “Y’All Come” muster has been rescheduled to the second week of September. The muster menu will be the same as other “Y’All Come” musters except there will no boiled crawfish because they will be out of season. Although, there may be some crawfish dishes on the menu. Because of a medium size meeting room and limited RV parking sites available, this muster is limited to Cajun members only. Attendees to this muster will have three days to travel to the National muster in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

In October we are planning our 25th anniversary muster at Grand Ecore (French for Big Bluff) RV Park, which is located on the Red River northeast of Natchitoches, Louisiana. Natchitoches was founded in 1714, making it the oldest established town in the Louisiana Purchase Territory. Natchitoches is famous for its Christmas lights, its fried meat pies, and was the filming location for the movies “The Horse Soldiers” with John Wayne and the ladies favorite “Steel Magnolias.”

Our muster fee is $30 per couple which provides four breakfasts and evening meals. Activities include card games, bean bag baseball, various crafts, fishing, tours of local attractions, golf tournaments; and there are always places for the Ladies to shop.

Come and join the Cajuns at one of these musters and find out what passing a good time is all about.
