Introduction

The SMART Texans chapter was chartered May 17, 1990, making it the oldest chapter in Texas, and also one of SMART’s oldest chapters nationwide. On May 19, 2025, members from several other SMART chapters joined with us in celebrating our chapter’s 35th Anniversary. We are focused primarily in Central and East Texas. Our chapter has around 20 member rigs. We normally have 4-5 musters a year, including the MW Regional and the SMART National Muster. We hold musters primarily in our member area, but may sometimes venture elsewhere depending on member interests.

Our chapter musters normally have around 10 rigs present with the agenda centered around fun and great fellowship. Musters are usually 3-5 nights, and are open ended so those still working can attend as their schedules allow. We socialize, play games, present occasional seminars, eat too much, and visit the local area around the muster. At most musters, we sell 50/50 tickets, where three winners divide 50% of the sales with the remaining 50% going to our charity project, the Watkins-Logan Texas Veterans home, located just North of Tyler, TX near the intersection of US-271 & TX-155.
